"Wikinger Reisen", our parent company, has been organising hiking, bicycle and discovery trips all around the world since 1969 with the idea of taking active trips, immersing yourself completely in unknown worlds, sharing your experiences with new-found friends and getting inspired by the tour guides´ enthusiasm. As the company started with tours to scandinavia “Wikinger” was chosen as a name at that time. And the Wikinger people of former times travelled a lot, didn’t they?
"Wikinger Reisen" is a family-owned and operated small business legally organised as a limited-liability company. It was established in 1969 by Hans-Georg Kraus and his wife Anne, and it is now being managed by the second generation, his son Daniel Kraus together with Dagmar Kimmel.
The idea behind the trips organised by "Wikinger Reisen" are small manageable groups that require team spirit and promote common outdoor activities while leaving time for minds and personalities to meet. Preferred accomodations are hotels with a familiar and authentic atmosphere as well as a regional cuisine. Instead of just sightseeing and taking pictures of the wellknown highlights Wikinger groups merge into a country, taking their time for exploring fascinating landscapes in an active way and meeting local people to better understand the life in the travel destination.
With more than 300 hiking programmes all over Europe, "Wikinger Reisen" is the leader for hiking tours in Europe on the german market and an important player for long-haul discovering tours. A worldwide offer for guided bicycle tours complete the range of products.

"Wikinger Individuell" is a subsidiary company of "Wikinger Reisen" which was founded 1996 by Charlotte Josefus. It offers nature-loving individualists a wide range of selfguided hiking and bicycle trips all over Europe. You stay in idyllic accommodations and hike or cycle from one place to another with detailed descriptions of the route travelled. Your luggage is transported, all necessary transfers are organised and everybody goes at her or his own pace. This is unique in Germany with more than 70 hiking trips and about 30 bicycle trips in Europe. "Wikinger Individuell" also features all kinds of tailormade tours designed for special groups, clubs, associations or companies.

Both "Wikinger Reisen" and "Wikinger Individuell" are actively committed to foreign aid. We believe in a responsible form of tourism. Our customers and employees have respect for the countries we travel to and are considerate of their natural resources. That means that we do our bit to bolster each region’s independence. That’s all in the spirit of the Georg-Kraus-Foundation which draws a portion of its funds from its 20% share in Wikinger Reisen. The Kraus family wants a certain share of the company’s earnings to be invested on a permanent basis in sustainable non-profit projects in developing countries. Donations flow into the projects without any deductions, Wikinger Reisen covers all necessary admininstration costs.
