Grades – how our walks are graded
We know that the walks´ degree of difficulty is not only determined by objectively measurable sizes such as walking time and difference in altitude. Weather conditions e.g. or character of the paths or how you feel that day influence as well. But those two criterias certainly help to set up a grading. When we are mentioning walking time below or in the day to day description of our tours it refers to the pure walking time without any breaks or rests. Usually, we calculate 4 km per hour on a flat track. Differences in altitude are listed according to ascent (e.g. + 150 m) and descent (e.g. –300 m).

Grade 1
Average walking time of about 3-4 hours with only slight differences in altitude of about 100-200 m. Also suitable for those who for the first time want to discover the pleasure of walking.

Grade 1-2

Grade 2
Average walking time of about 5 hours with average differences in altitude of about 400-600 m. Tours can be managed by those who have an average condition and a certain experience in walking.

Grade 2-3
Average walking time of about 6 hours and differences in altitude up to 1,000 m. You should be in good condition and experienced in walking for quite a longer time. A walking tour which is put into the category 2-3 can possibly contain 1 or 2 walks which correspond to category 2 or 3.

Grade 3
In contrast to the category 2-3, the walking time and differences in altitude increase slightly (walking time up to 7 hours; difference in altitude can exceed 1,000 m). The walks which are put into category 3 are reserved for the well-conditioned guest who is experienced in walking and does not suffer from vertigo.
